But there's a difference between pre-loved and pre-loved to death.
We're looking for clothing that's clean, wearable and in good condition. We check for stains, holes, excessive pilling, stretched-out fabric, missing buttons and broken zippers.
Because nobody wants to discover a mystery stain hiding under the arm after they've already brought their new favourite sweater home. And we're not perfect, sometimes we miss a stain or zipper here and there.
But our aim is to make sure you don't get home and see something yuck! 😂
We care about what people actually want to wear.
Trends matter, but we're not interested in filling the store with things that are trendy for approximately 11 minutes.
We're looking for pieces that feel current, wearable and relevant.
That might be the wide-leg denim everyone is loving right now. It might be an oversized sweater or a classic leather jacket that somehow looks good every single year.
And we're not here to tell you what you should wear.
If you like it, wear it.
Fashion rules are made up anyway.
Quality matters.
One of the best things about secondhand shopping is finding beautiful fabrics and quality pieces without paying full retail. And certain brands make better quality clothing, and we hunt for those.
We're looking at things like cotton, wool, linen, leather, denim and quality knits, pieces that feel good and have plenty of life left in them.
And sometimes a piece doesn't have a fancy label.
That's okay.
A good piece is a good piece.
We think about whether you'll actually buy it.
This is a big one.
We're not just asking:
"Is this nice?"
We're asking:
"Would someone actually spend their money on this?"
Something can be beautiful and still not be right for our store. Maybe the style is dated. Maybe the price doesn't make sense. Maybe we already have seventeen versions of the same thing.
We're thinking about our shoppers, and our shoppers aren't all the same.
Different ages. Different styles. Different bodies. Different budgets.

Keep an open mind.
Don't walk into a consignment store looking for one very specific thing and immediately write everything else off.
Try the weird jacket.
Pick up the sweater in the colour you normally wouldn't wear.
Try the boots.
Look through the bags.
Look through all the sizes.
Because some of the best secondhand finds are the ones you weren't looking for.
